Psalm 17

Psalm 17

verse 15

A Prayer

of

David

Psalm 16

Psalm 63

Psalm 17:15

is one of my favorite Bible verses.

It reminds me of the ultimate joy of heaven.

In this verse,

David proclaims that

being

fully satisfied

means

Seeing and Communing with God in heaven.

Psalm 17:15 AMP

As for me, I shall see Your face in righteousness.

I will be [fully] satisfied

when I awake [to find myself] seeing Your likeness.

The second and third lines

more fully explain

the first line.

David is proclaiming that

when he awakens in heaven,

he will be FULLY satisfied

because

he shall finally see God with his own eyes

and because

when he is in heaven

he shall be able to have

the most wonderful,

sweet communion with his much-loved God.

This verse expresses

David's love for God and

David's deep desire to

see God

and commune more fully with God.

Close communion with God

is available to all of us.

Part of the next song

has lyrics based on

Psalm 17:15.

It says...

I will seek You as
Long as it takes
Till I behold You face to face.
My soul is satisfied
With the richness of You.

Tuesday

Today I will be...

Explaining the word

"righteousness"

in

Psalm 17:15...

As for me, I shall see Your face in righteousness.

Psalm 23 tells us that

when we follow God,

he leads us on paths of righteousness.

If we do not resist God,

we will follow paths of righteousness.

In John 14:23,

Jesus said,

"If you love me, you will obey me."

When we love God,

we practice righteousness -

just like practicing a musical instrument -

we get better and better at it...

Never perfect -

but always practicing

because we love God.

Because we love God - we learn to love his ways.

His ways are ways of righteousness.

And when we sin,

1 John 1:9 says,

If we confess our sins,

he is faithful and just

to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Choosing Righteousness

is the path to closeness with God.

Ephesians 5:1 TLB

teaches us to...

Follow God's example

in everything you do

just as a much-loved child

imitates his father.

 David desired to please God.

David pursued the paths of righteousness.

David longed to be close to God.

"Draw near to God

and he will draw near to you."

James 4:8

In Heaven,

we become fully righteous in our mind and heart.

No longer will we be pulled by sin.

When we arrive in heaven,

our earthly decision to follow Jesus

will be set in us for eternity.

Passionate Follower of Jesus.

How wonderful

to be close with the Lord

and say

just as this psalm says,

"When I awake in heaven, I will be fully satisfied."

Wednesday

Today I will be featuring

Psalm 42:1-2

As the deer longs for streams of water,

so I long for you, O God.

I thirst for God, the living God.

Psalm 42:1-2 a NLT

-

The song below beautifully draws me

to a place

where I feel the deep desire for God

that the psalmist is expressing in Psalm 42 verses 1-2.

longing...

yearning...

The King James Version says

panting...

after God.

Psalm 42

gives us a picture

of a man

who has deep intimacy with God.

In Psalm 16:11,

we also see a picture of intimacy.

In Psalm 16:11,

David reflects

on the wonders of following God on earth

and on

the pleasures forevermore in heaven.

He praises God

for God's guidance and blessings.

David says to God ...

" You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. "

Psalm 16:11 NKJV

This page ends with

different translations of

Psalm 17:15

KJV...

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness:
I shall be satisfied,
when I awake, with thy likeness.

AMPC

As for me, I shall see Your face in righteousness;
I will be [fully] satisfied
when I awake [to find myself] seeing Your likeness.

TLB -
 a paraphrase of the verse

But as for me,
my contentment is not in wealth
but in seeing you and knowing all is well between us.
And when I awake in heaven,
I will be fully satisfied, for I will see you face-to-face.

ASV

As for me, I shall behold thy face in righteousness;
I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with beholding thy form.

HCSB

But I will see Your face in righteousness;
when I awake, I will be satisfied with Your presence.
