God calls himself Jehovah Rapha – which means the God who heals.
Exodus 15:26 NKJV says “For I am the Lord who heals you.”
~
The topic of this page is: receiving healing from God.
We begin with the story of the woman with the issue of blood.
This story can be found in three of the Gospels - Matthew
chapter 9 beginning in verse 20, Mark chapter 5:25 and Luke chapter 8:43. This
woman had a bleeding problem, and she had spent all her money on doctors. …
She had also obviously spent some quality time thinking on the scriptures. Her
attention had become focused on a verse in Malachi. It says, “Messiah will have
healing in his wings.”
Most people do not understand some of the subtleties of the story of this woman. I learned some key components about this story from a Jewish rabbi who had surrendered his life to Jesus and was the leader of a Messianic Jewish Congregation – (They believe Jesus is the Jewish Messiah.)
A few years ago, I was visiting a Messianic Jewish Congregation and the rabbi that I just mentioned – was teaching on the story of the woman with the issue of blood.
The Rabbi taught us that the Bible verse she had relied on was Malachi chapter 4 verse 2 – The verse in the King James Version says, “But unto you that fear my name - shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in his wings.”
In that verse, the word “wings” has multiple definitions. One definition says that “wings” indicates a particular place on a Jewish prayer shawl.
The woman with the issue of blood had pondered that verse, and she had realized that the verse meant that when Messiah comes…… he will have healing available on his prayer shawl.
The woman took the words of God seriously.
She obviously believed that Jesus was the promised Messiah and she allowed boldness to rise up in her and then she took action to find Jesus.
When she found Jesus, he was wearing his prayer shawl. She pushed through the crowd and grabbed the area of the prayer shawl which was mentioned in the verse. She was instantly healed. Note that she did not ask Jesus for healing. She just believed that the Bible verse was true.
She grew her faith in God’s word and took her healing. Notice that Jesus was pleased with her faith. Jesus said that HER faith had healed her. Her faith in God’s Word had healed her. That is what Jesus said.
I believe that the woman thought about Malachi 4:2 in her home and became amazed at what it said.
She realized that this Bible verse gave her a promise - for healing.
She read the Bible verse, pondered it, increased her faith, and then she set out to find Jesus.
She found Jesus and TOOK her healing.
Today we cannot go and find Jesus and touch his prayer shawl. But just like that woman, we can look at the healing scriptures in the Bible and find a promise that we CAN have faith in - for healing.
We CAN find promises for healing in the Bible, read them, and increase our faith that those promises are for us.
I have seen many healings happen when someone put his faith in Bible scripture for healing.
Here are some healing scriptures that we can choose to read, speak out loud and believe in.
Note that they are all from the New King James Version unless otherwise indicated.
1 Peter 2:24 tells us that Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – then Peter says – And by whose stripes YOU were healed.
Peter tells us that by the stripes of Jesus WE ARE HEALED.
Psalm 29:11 says, “The Lord will give strength to His people.”
Isaiah 40:29 says, “He gives power to the weak…… and to those who have no might… He increases strength.”
Psalm 30:2 says, “O Lord my God, I cried out to You and You healed me.”
Healing Advice
The Bible gives us advice about things we can do
that will positively affect our body.
Proverbs 16:24 says, “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the
bones.”
Proverbs 3:7-8 says, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones.”
Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
I’m going to stop at this point and show how we can take a scripture and extend our faith in prayer for healing.
I am going to use Proverbs 17:22 for the following prayer for healing.
Dear Lord,
You say in Proverbs 17:22 that a merry heart does good like medicine.
So I am going to intentionally have a merry heart this day. And I am going to believe that my merry heart will bless my body.
Thank you, Lord, for healing me.
In Jesus' name I pray.
AMEN

Speaking of medicine, Proverbs 4:20-22 NKJV indicates that the WORDS in the Bible are like medicine to our body. Those verses say that God’s words have healing IN THEM. Therefore if we read them, think about them, and speak them, we can expect an increase in our health.
Those verses say, “My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my
sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your
heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their
flesh.”
In the Amplified version, it says, "My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.”
I am suggesting that it is healing to the body for us to speak out loud healing verses from the Bible. We can speak out Proverbs 4:20-22 or any of the other of healing verses in the Bible, and they will be like medicine to our body.
Doctors generally tell us to take our medicine 3 times a day.
So why not
speak out healing scripture 3 times a day?
Healing may come quickly or it may come slowly, but I believe that God says what he means and means what he says. So I believe that God's words will bring healing to my body.
I have seen miraculous healings from people speaking out the word of God. Some came fast and some came slowly.
I have seen miraculous healings but that doesn’t mean that everything I’ve prayed for has come to be.
I have prayed prayer for healing for loved ones as they faced
death, and they have died. I stood on God’s word and prayed with great faith and believed - and they have
died.
But I have also prayed prayer for healing for loved ones who were dying, and they have miraculously lived.
I have seen many amazing, miraculous healings of all kinds of issues - small issues and large issues.
Just because I do not see healing manifested every single time I pray prayer for healing and speak out healing verses - that does not mean that I would ever go back to the way I used to live. Since I have learned many biblical principles of healing and since I have been growing my faith for healing - I’ve seen many, many miracles.
If the healing doesn’t occur, I have to fight disappointment. But I am willing to sometimes battle disappointment in order to see lots more miracles. Yes, I will battle and defeat the attacks of disappointment in order to see lots more miracles.
This is a fallen world. It is not heaven. We will not always experience healing. But I have decided that I will believe and I will stand for healing. If symptoms persist, then I persist.
I will not let go of my faith for healing - for big and small issues - until I arrive in heaven - where I will enjoy perfect health.
And I will pray for others and believe. As long as we are on this earth, there is
an opportunity to have faith and believe for healing.
The enemy of our soul will try to get us to doubt that God wants us healed and that we can be healed. He has always used doubt to try to hurt people.
The devil came to Eve to get her to doubt God. The devil said, “Did God really say……?”
The evil one and his demons still use this strategy today. They want you to doubt that God really said certain things OR that God really meant what the Bible says. OR the enemy and his demons will try to get you to doubt that healing verses are for you.
But I am going to believe that every time I speak out a healing verse, something good happens in my body or for the person I am praying for. It may be a small difference, but something happens.
We will never know how much worse we would have been if we had not spoken out the healing scriptures of God.

Healing Scriptures
Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.”
Jeremiah 30:17 says, “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds says the Lord.”
Have you ever needed healing but thought healing was impossible?
As we look at the words in the Bible, we see that God challenges us to believe for impossible things.
Here are five scriptures where God challenges us to believe the impossible.
“But Jesus looked at them and said,
'With men it is impossible,
but not with God;
for WITH God all things are possible.'”
Mark 10:27 NKJV
“Then the
disciples came to Jesus privately and said, 'Why could we not cast that demon out?'
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your
unbelief, for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you WILL SAY to this mountain ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move;
and nothing
will be impossible to you.'”
Matthew 17:19
“And looking at
them Jesus said to them,
‘With people this is impossible, but WITH God all things are possible.’”
Matthew 19:26
“For nothing will be impossible WITH God.”
Luke 1:37
“But Jesus said, ‘The things that are impossible with people
are
possible WITH God.’”
Luke 18:27
Five times in the Gospels we are told
that
nothing is impossible for us WITH God.
Does your faith need to grow in this area?
How big is your faith in believing that you can do the impossible WITH God?
The woman with the issue of blood could have looked at her situation and focused on the fact that she had spent all her money on doctors and they could not help her.
She could have decided that Healing is impossible.
But she decided
to believe in the impossible.
She
believed God’s word.
And Jesus complimented her on her faith.
I invite you to pray this prayer for healing:
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are my healer. I give you glory, and I dedicate myself to you and to being obedient to you.
I rejoice that your word tells me that by the stripes of Jesus I am healed.
Today I stretch out my faith. I believe that you are able to heal me. I believe that healing is available to me. I believe that you want me healthy.
I remember the woman with the issue of blood. She didn’t ask Jesus for healing. She just reached out and took it. Jesus was pleased with her boldness, and her faith in the Scriptures.
I reach out and take my healing.
Thank you for encouraging me to reach out and take my healing just like she did.
By faith, I will believe that your healing power is working right now on my behalf.
By faith, I will believe that your healing power will continue to bring healing into my needed areas until the healing is complete.
I will continue to speak - out loud - healing Bible verses and grow my faith.
I will believe it. I will declare it. I will receive it.
Thank you, Almighty God, for my healing.
In Jesus' name I pray,
AMEN

Earlier Psalm 29:11 was mentioned.
Below is a Prayer for Healing that uses Psalm 29:11.
Almighty God,
Thank you that you said in Psalm 29:11 that "The Lord will give strength to His people."
Thank you for that promise.
By faith, I receive your strength into my body right now.
I believe that my body is receiving strength right now. I will continue to speak out your words and believe that your healing promises are for me.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen
