Lord, Can I Buy a Vowel?

Puzzles and games have captured

many hours of my attention

over the years.

Vanna White

keeps me on the edge of my seat

as she touches

the letters

that reveal more and more

of the hidden words displayed

on the "Wheel of Fortune" television show.

Whenever a contestant gets stumped,

he or she

always wants to buy a vowel.

It is amazing

how much clearer

a message can be

when vowels are added.

Solving a television puzzle is entertaining, but it is not a meaningful activity.

Spending time seeking God

is a truly worthwhile activity.

Hearing God's voice has become

a vital part of my life.

I've documented several ways

that God uses to communicate his will to a person.

That information has been useful

to me in discerning God's voice,

yet I still sometimes find myself

coming to God

feeling perplexed.

Often God's messages

appear as

obscure

as the puzzle on

"Wheel of Fortune."

Seeking to hear

God's voice

Sometimes I frantically

ask God

to speak more clearly to me

about my situation.

~

I emotionally beseech him to

speak louder!

One day as I was fervently requesting clarity,

I impulsively blurted out,

"Can I buy a vowel?"

As I have continued the process of

deciphering God's counsel

for my situations and circumstances,

I have begun to get insight -

not just into his will - but into his ways.

What a surprise it was

to find that I had stumbled over

one of his

main objectives.

The Lord says,

"Seek, and ye shall find."

While seeking, I have been surprised at all that I have found.

One of the best outcomes

of my journey

through mystery message mazes

has been the positive change

in my love walk toward others.

God has worked

in me

a greater compassion

for those who are unsure

about which road to take

or those who appear lost on their life trip.

And God has worked greater

humbleness in me.

I find myself becoming

more aware of how much

I truly need God.

~

I also develop a greater intimacy with God

as I pursue him for answers.

~ ~ ~

And yes, I do find answers

to my questions.

But they may not come as quickly

as I would like.

We may feel

that we have wandered miles away

from the correct path,

but God promises us

that he is able

to bring us to our correct destination.

AMEN!
