Sin and Repentance and the need for blood

Why does God's forgiveness need blood?

A complete understanding of God's forgiveness

and our repentance

including

the need for blood.

This page will explain

animal sacrifice

and the

Sacrifice of Jesus

and how

God wants us to view sin.

To begin -

The Sacrifice for Sin

is

Blood.

This is why Jesus had to die.

This page is basically a partial transcript

of a video

with very little added by me

that I will post at the bottom of the page.

This video was so good,

there is no need for me to try to make a better message on this topic.

We start with

Leviticus 17:11

NKJV

This verse helps answer -

why

there needs to be blood.

For the life of the flesh
is
in the blood,
and I have given it to you upon the altar
to make
atonement
for your souls;

for it is

the blood that makes atonement for the soul.

psalm-23-2

Leviticus 17:11

explains the sacrificial animal system

and

why Jesus had to come and die. .....

It is the

blood

that makes atonement for sin.

This is the whole point of the sacrificial system.

Let's talk about sin.

When we sin, we become separated from God.

When we sin - there is a penalty.

The penalty is DEATH.

Disobedience to God is sin.

And

sin

must be removed so we can avoid hell and instead

have eternal life.

We deserve the penalty of death

yet

God made provision - so we can have eternal life,

God

gave a substitute for us.

The life of the animal sacrifice

was taken for atonement.

The animal was taking our place.

The penalty for us was placed on that animal.

lots-of-sheep

Sin must be removed from us

so we can go to heaven.

gates-clouds-heaven

Death was required.

God began to teach us this fact through animal sacrifice.

Jesus

came as

a better and more perfect sacrifice

than animals.

In the Old Testament

the blood of a lamb put on the door of their home

was a covering so that death passed over them.

Exodus 12:13

says,

Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are.

And when I see the blood,

I will pass over you;

and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you

when I strike the land of Egypt.

God says

when I see the blood, I pass over.

And I submit to you

that

the blood of Jesus

needs to be

upon our heart.

Romans 6:23 NKJV

says,

For the wages of sin is death,

but the gift of God

is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The COST of Sin....

cross-sins

Sin leads to death

but choosing God

leads to life.......eternal life.

God is Holy - He cannot look upon sin.

  Isaiah 59:1-2

says,

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear.
But your iniquities [ sins ] have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.

God turns away from sin.

Father God

turned his face away

from Jesus at the cross,

when the sins of the world were placed on Jesus.

  Psalm 22:1 a

Jesus cries out from the cross,

My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?

The sin has to be taken away from us -

which means > atonement for us.

God cannot allow sin in heaven.

It would contaminate the whole place.

Nothing unholy can enter heaven....

Revelation  21: 27

says,

But there shall by no means enter it anything

that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie,

but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

heaven-clouds-rays

God cannot allow sin in heaven - because

sin leads to death and heaven is ETERNAL LIFE.

The sin

has to be taken away from us

while we are

on earth.

God made it very easy for us to receive forgiveness.

Note:

It was not easy for Jesus.

cross-sins-jesus

For  us

Forgiveness

is so easy

that we

do

not

feel

the weightiness of our sin in our life.

red-down-arrow

Because the path to forgiveness is so easy,

many people sin in a very casual way.

When

we think we can simply say a quick

two second prayer,

"God, forgive me,"

and get out of sin's penalty,

then we are

tempted

to rationalize sinning

because the remedy seems so easy.

red-arrow-attention

Because the remedy seems so easy,

many people have a greater willingness to sin.

This distorts and minimizes the severity of sin.

People say,

"I'll sin today and ask for forgiveness tomorrow."

(I - Beth - have heard MANY people casually say that.)

That idea

is a dangerous game.

It will

minimize the danger of what sin is.

This leads

to a condition that some people call

Cheap Grace.

In addressing this topic, Paul writes in

Romans 6:1-2

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Sadly,

many people today do just that.

Many people live with that attitude.

blue-purple-arrow

God tells us to be DEAD to sin and

ALIVE in Jesus.

Romans 6:11

says,

 Likewise you also,

reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin,

but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We should not let sin reign in us.

woman-out-loud-attention

We should not take advantage of grace

by casually sinning

but instead -

live so that we need grace less frequently.

Note  - God's grace does not run out.

amazing-grace-2022

Romans 6:15 - 16

says,

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

So -

what we yield to  >  we are a slave to.

If you are a slave to sin, sin leads to death.

Or

you can be a slave to righteousness which leads to life.

first-john-bible

We cannot go on sinning and simply use insincere repentance

to get out of our sins.

Repentance

is not merely saying

"God, forgive me."

Repentance

> > >   in Hebrew < < <

means - turning away from sin.

bible-clip-art

If you are neglecting to turn away from sin -

you are not truly repenting.

Let's go more indepth -

Difficult sins such as addictions

Yes, there are sins that are difficult to quit and may take some time to wrestle through.

But when Christians are wrestling and trying to get free -

they are doing that with God,

in prayer and Bible reading

and they are repenting along the way.

Note:

This teaching is not about questioning your salvation.

This is about cultivating genuine regret and true repentance.

Sins

that never truly get Conquered

Beth says -

There are some sins

that we will never overcome completely.

Examples -

selfishness and self-centeredness.

Those we must battle with

for all our life.

In these cases,

God wants to see progress.

If you want to hear Rabbi Kevin explain this part,

go to - 1 hour 37 minutes

on the video at the bottom of the page.

Rabbi Kevin is a Messianic Jew - he believes Jesus IS Messiah.

man-reading-bible

We do not take sin seriously enough.

1 Corinthians 5:6 - 7  NASB

speaks about sin

as leaven

or in some translations - yeast.

It says,

Your boasting is not good.

Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?

Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump,

just as you are in fact unleavened.

For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.

Do not get confortable tolerating sin.

Sin has to be

crucified not managed.

We are at 1 hour 43 on the video

sin-separate

Sin separates us from God.

Sin is not a little mistake.

Let's see sin for what it truly is -

Filthy, rotten, defiling, poison, disgusting,

corrupting, and deadly

Sin is a stain on us that only the blood of Jesus can clean.

studying-the-bible-hands

Sin brings

death, suffering, and destruction.

Let's repent sincerely.

Think about this -

When you sin,

you are putting Jesus on the tree of sacrifice.

black-man-thinking
think-consider-woman-sad

You are causing Jesus the pain

that caused him to cry out.

If you hear this message

and

think you have to earn God's grace -

then you do not understand God's grace.

arrow-curved-blue

Ephesians 2:8 - 9 NKJV

says,

 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

"  Not sinning  "

does not earn you God's grace.

A wise person chooses a lifestyle of trying

not to sin

as a result of

fully understanding and embracing

God's grace.

When we understand God's love for us,

it should result in

us

never looking at sin in the same way again.

This message can be

inspirational and life - changing -

if you will let it.
