What Scripture Says
Proverbs 15:15 NKJV
" He who has a merry heart has a continual feast."
Romans 14:17 KJV
"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink;
but
righteousness, peace, and JOY in the Holy Ghost."
1 Thessalonians 5:16
" Rejoice always! "
John 17:13 NKJV
Jesus said,
" But now I come to You (God the father)
and these things I speak in the world,
that
they
may have
my joy fulfilled in themselves. "

Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 TLB
says,
" Young man,
it’s wonderful to be young!
Enjoy every minute of it!
Do all you want to;
take in everything,
but realize that
you must account to God for everything you do.
So
banish grief and pain,
but
remember that youth,
with a whole life before it,
can
make serious mistakes. "

Helpful Tips
and
Ideas

Bless your child with the knowledge that
he or she
will be used by God to bring a special joy to the world.
Give your child opportunities
to use
his or her
God-given gift of joy.
For example:
Allow your child
to help plan parties and special events at your home.
Your fun-loving teen
is a great asset to organizations that need volunteers.
So -
Be alert
to events that your child could participate in
as a helper.
Serving in this way
allows others to gain
from your child's fun - loving spirit and creativity.
It
also develops
two weaknesses
that fun-loving teens often have -
following through with commitments
and finishing things.

I wish I was a kid again
because
everyone would be proud of me
for taking a long nap."

# 2
Prayer for -
Children who are steady.
This prayer is written for a daughter,
please adapt for a son.
Faithful Father,
Blessed be your Holy Name!
Your steadfast love, O Lord, is as great as all the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
You have been faithful to me, and I will be faithful to you.
Thank you, Lord,
that you have blessed my child.
You, yourself, steady her feet.
She is growing into a tower of strength
that will steady many people
during her life.
Her actions will add security to those who need it.
Her dependability will be a joy and blessing to others.
My child will bring great honor
to the name of the Lord
through her dedication to faithfulness.
Lord,
I ask that you would give my child
a keen awareness of your voice.
May my child be obedient in every area of her life.
Help her to more easily
lay down those things
that you have completed in her life.
I praise you, Lord.
You are the God to whom all praise is due.
You are the Alpha and the Omega,
the beginning and the end.
You are steady and never waver
in
your love and compassion toward us.
Amen

What Scripture Says
Proverbs 28:20 NKJV
"A faithful man will abound with blessings."
Psalm 89:1 AMP
" I will sing
of the mercy and lovingkindness of the Lord forever,
with
my mouth
will I make known
your faithfulness from generation to generation."

Helpful Tips
and
Ideas

Explain to your child that his steadiness will yield large returns. Read to your child the story of The Tortoise and the Hare.
Share with your child that employers highly value steadiness and faithfulness in those who work for them.
Tell your child that you appreciate his steadiness. Explain that other people are blessed by his steadiness and dependability.
Generally
a faithful child
does his chores without complaining;
therefore,
parents
sometimes take for granted
the way
their child nicely obey.
So -
Bless your child by periodically noticing the great job he does
and the great attitude he has doing it.
He needs to hear that you appreciate him.
These children usually want their compliments privately.
Ask your child
if he or she prefers compliments privately or in front of people.

“The quickest way for a parent
to get a child’s attention
is
to sit down and look comfortable.”
Lane Olinghouse

# 3
Prayer for -
Children who
are impatient
This prayer is written for a son,
please adapt for a daughter.
Almighty God,
I praise your wisdom.
I praise your faithfulness.
I praise your decisions.
I will trust you.
I will have confidence that you are training and preparing
my child
to
blaze new trails and forge new routes
that will
bless the lives of others and glorify your kingdom.
My child
will be given parched ground
and
be used to
speak forth
springs and streams in the desert.
He is being prepared and anointed
to lead in godly wisdom.
You are the author of all that is good.
In and of myself, I can do nothing, and my child can do nothing.
Your Word says that we need to abide in the vine of Christ,
and then
YOUR life will flow through us.
My child
needs your life-giving essence to flow through him.
Lord,
lead my child
into new revelations
about how to abide in you and how to walk in patience.
Enlarge his capacity to respond to others
with love and gentleness.
Bring him the insights and self-control
he needs
in order to be able to wait on you.
I will
magnify the name of the Lord
who gives good gifts to his children.
Amen

"The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him."
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through God who strengthens me.

Helpful Tips
and
Ideas

Find stories to read to your child about people
who
waited and were glad they did.
Emphasize each act of patience as a victory.

As a parent
- just remind yourself -
The first 12 months of the year are the hardest.

# 4
Prayer for -
Children who
are
Amazing Talkers
This prayer is written for a daughter,
please adapt for a son.
King of Creation and Lord of my life.
I will meditate on the God of my salvation.
Your love staggers my imagination.
As I picture Calvary,
I look upon the greatest expression of love ever given.
Your red drops of love glisten in my mind and heart.
Thank you
that my child will be used
to proclaim
the message of God's love to others
through her gift of communication.
She will use words
inspired by you
to bring hope and healing to your people.
Thank you
for the exciting life that you have planned for her.
Thank you that my child's life
will be filled
with one unimaginable
adventure
after the other
as she hops, skips, and jumps
through life.
You hold her in the overabundance of your love.
You lavish her with your attention.
Thank you
for your mercies.
Thank you
that my child is growing in the area of obedience.
I believe by faith
that all her words will become pleasing to your ears.
Amen

What Scripture Says
Psalm 96:3b
" Tell everyone about the amazing things God does. "
1 Corinthians 4:20
" The Kingdom of God is not just talking;
it is living by God's power."
Ephesians 5:19
" Talk with each other much about the Lord,
quoting psalms and hymns and singing sacred songs,
making music
in your hearts to the Lord. "

Helpful Tips
and
Ideas

Notice
when
your child is a good listener and then give compliments.
Praise your child for quick obedience. For example, "I am impressed with how quickly you obeyed me! Wow, you are shining the light of Jesus in a brilliant way today. "
Read and discuss with your child the parable that Jesus gave in Matthew 21:28-31. Read the parable and then ask your child, "Which of the two was obedient?"
More Info
Many children who have the gift of communication
enjoy
telling stories, expressing their ideas, joyfully imitating others,
getting others to laugh,
and
persuading others.
Yet
many with this gift
also have significant issues with getting tasks done.
Make sure your child understands
that talking is great,
but action needs to accompany talking.
Quotes
" Talk does not cook rice. "
Chinese proverb
" It is no use to wait for your ship to come in
unless
you have sent one out. "

Parents often
jokingly tell
epic tales
of how hard their childhood was.
-
This video
shows
one of those epic tales.
Another example of an epic tale:
Back in my day,
we had to get up
to change the T.V. channel
- uphill both ways -
in the snow.

# 5
Prayer for -
Children who
have issues with forgiveness
This prayer is written for a son,
please adapt for a daughter.
Merciful Lord,
I praise you for your gift of forgiveness.
It is comforting and inspiring.
Jesus,
I now see that
it was not the nails that kept you on that cross;
it was love.
Your flesh was ripped and separated with agonizing pain,
all because
that pain was more bearable
than
the pain of being separated from us for all eternity.
Your precious blood
flowed out in streams of forgiveness.
Your love
for us is so perfect and complete.
Our love is so warped and fragmented.
Your Word tells us
to forgive,
but it is not easy.
I want to learn
to extend forgiveness
in the same abundant manner that you do.
Lord,
show my child how to give mercy to others and to himself.
Set my child free from believing that
he needs to keep alive
painful words and actions from the past.
Help
my child to shake off
the old
and
walk in your newness of life.
Lord,
I know that my child has inner wounds
that need to be healed.
May my child receive healing
from your hand of goodness
and be made whole.
Amen
