Psalm 55

Psalm 55

A psalm of

David

desert

An overview

of the

55th psalm.

David is suffering.

He feels...

pressure, restlessness, anguish, terrors,

and perhaps panic attacks.

All kinds of fear was attacking his emotions and his mind.

This situation is continually on his mind and distracting him.

At times,

particularly

verse 15,

we see

David's emotions

are running away with him.

Let's go to

Verses 6-7

“Oh, that I had wings like a dove!

I would fly away and be at rest.

Indeed, I would wander far off,

And remain in the wilderness.

Selah"

Selah = pause and think about it.

David was having

a strong

human

reaction

to a terrible situation.

I can certainly relate

to David's words in verses 6-7.

I've felt that way

during difficult times.

I am thinking

of a time

when I was getting ready to go to a funeral,

and I had a huge urge to run away.

It was alarmingly strong.

I just plain didn't want to face the finality of death.

“Oh, that I had wings like a dove!

I would fly away and be at rest.

Verse 6

God doesn't give us wings.

God is our wings.

We have to trust God.

Thoughts on

Psalm 55:6

Note:

There is no consensus with Bible scholars

on the background of this psalm.

Meaning:

Saul may or may not be a part of events referred to in this psalm.

Nevertheless,

this video has a lot of value.
