Psalm 125
We Trust in God.
We are Blessed.
A Psalm
to bless those who are loyal to the Lord -
and to warn those who are wicked.
They that trust in the Lord
shall be as mount Zion,
which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
"They that trust in the Lord"
Trust = confidence and security
Psalm 125:1 in the TLB version says:
Those who trust in the Lord are steady as Mount Zion,
unmoved by any circumstance.
The opposite of steady is
unsteady.
We read about being unsteady
in
James 1:6 b - 8 a TLB.
It says,
"For a doubtful mind
will be as unsettled
as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed
by the wind.
and every decision you then make
will be uncertain,
as you turn first this way, and then that."
God wants us to be steady and unmoved.
When we are unmoved,
we aren't
tossed back and forth
between
trusting and not trusting
God.
Here is Psalm 125:1 AMPC version:
Those who trust in, lean on, and confidently hope
in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved
but abides and stands fast forever.
Stand Firm
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters,
stand firm.
Let nothing move you.
1 Corinthians 15:58 a NIV
Be on guard.
Stand firm in the faith.
Be courageous.
Be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13 NLT
Trust in the Lord = Steady
Trust in the Lord = Abiding = Close Communion with God
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,
so the Lord is round about his people
from henceforth even for ever.
God surrounds us with protection.
Psalm 139
gives us a picture of
how present God is with us.
Psalm 139 verse 5 is especially related to
Psalm 125.
It says...
You are all around me -
in front of me and behind me.
I feel your hand on my shoulder.
Psalm 139:5 ERV
Please consider our page:
For Those Who Feel Surrounded by trouble
For the rod of the wicked
shall not rest upon
the lot of the righteous;
lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
The rod = the scepter
(Like a King's scepter which represents power and authority.)
Is it God's Perfect Will
that wicked people rule countries?
No.
It is God's command that we choose godly leaders.
In the TLB version this verse says,
For the wicked shall not rule the godly,
lest the godly be forced to do wrong.
Psalm 125:3 TLB
God's perfect will is for the godly to rule.
God's permissive will
sometimes
allows the wicked to rule.
Yet, God tells us that he will not allow
the wicked to rule forever.
In many countries, such as the United States,
the people have great power
to choose their leaders.
God wants us to take that right seriously.
We are to research
those running and
try
to make the best decisions we can.
One way we can tell if a leader is ungodly -
is if the leader tries to FORCE people
to do ungodly things.
Do good, O Lord,
unto those that be good,
and to them that are upright in their hearts.
-
Verse 4
is a prayer to God
that we can pray at any time.
In James 5:16,
God says that
The Prayers of the Righteous Avail Much.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
availeth much.
James 5:16 b
It is God's will that the righteous are blessed.
God's word says,
No good thing
will he withhold
from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11 b
As for such as turn aside
unto their crooked ways,
the Lord shall lead them forth
with the workers of iniquity:
but peace shall be upon Israel.
This verse tells us that
when people turn to crooked, sinful ways -
they join themselves
to the punishment of evildoers.
Psalm 125 verse 5 in the ESV says:
But those who turn aside
to their crooked ways
the LORD will lead away with evildoers!
Peace be upon Israel!
In a related verse,
we read in Isaiah 3:10-11 AMPC :
Say to the righteous
that it will go well with them,
For they will eat the fruit of their [righteous] actions.
Woe (judgment is coming) to the wicked!
It shall go badly with him,
For what his hand has done shall be done to him.
God ends this psalm
with a blessing for Israel.
We would be wise to choose to bless Israel.
For God says,
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
they shall prosper
that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls,
and prosperity within thy palaces.
Psalm 122:6-7 KJV
God also says in Genesis 12:1-3 CEV,
The Lord said to Abram (Abraham):
Leave your country, your family, and your relatives and go to the land that I will show you.
2 I will bless you and make your descendants into a great nation.
You will become famous and be a blessing to others.
3 I will bless anyone who blesses you,
but I will put a curse on anyone
who puts a curse on you.
Everyone on earth will be blessed because of you.

So we pray for Blessings for Israel.
May they have
Peace.
