Prayer for Gaining Peace
from
the Lord.

Introduction
The Peace of God
is
Supernatural and Available.
Jesus said,
" Peace I leave with you,
my peace
I give unto you;
not as
the world giveth,
give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid. "
John 14:27 KJV

The peace of Jesus is a Supernatural Peace.
Jesus has
given us that peace - yet
WE need to learn how to receive it.

We need to learn to
absorb Peace in all its fullness.

We need to learn how to intentionally
do things
that will result
in the peace of God being experienced
in our mind and our emotions.

The Bible tells Christians to
SEEK peace & PURSUE peace.
1 Peter 3:11 b NKJV
says,
"Let him seek peace and pursue it."

Prayer
to our Loving God.

God of Soothing Peace,
You are my oasis away from all the chaos of this world.
You are
calm, wise, above it all
- understanding everything -
ever loving.
God, I come today to give you praise.
You are my Shield.
You are my Strong Tower - the one I run to.
You are my Peace.
Help me to absorb all the peace you have for me.
Help me to see my problems as surrounded by your peace.
Teach me
how
to keep my problems from disturbing my peace.
I will remind myself that you are ready to guide me.
Help me to distance myself
from
the unhelpful emotions that are easily associated
with
my problems,
my loved ones' problems,
and the problems of this world.
May I live with the supernatural peace
and power
that you want me to receive and enjoy.
Lord, thinking about
my
struggling loved ones
often
dissolves my peace.
Help me to see the problems my loved ones' experience
as
stepping stones
that
will eventually lead them
toward greater wisdom and more dependance on you.
When I see my loved ones suffering
or
not following you -
I will call out in prayer
for your blessings
and for
my loved ones to place you in the center of their lives.
Lord, thinking about
the ungodliness of this world
often
dissolves my peace.
Help me to see the problems and chaos in this world -
as being
in your hands
and
under your watchful eye
and remind me not to let those things lodge in my heart.
When I see
the chaos that results from the ungodliness of my country -
I will
call out in prayer for those in my country
to love you and follow you.
When I realize that I am slipping away from your peace
during
my day -
I will call out in prayer slowly saying,
"Loving Heavenly Father -
You are my ever-present help.
You are the Shepherd of my heart.
You are the God of Soothing Peace.
You are my beloved Abba
in whom
my soul rests.
I will look to your Guidance and yield to your Peace. "
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen

Abba means Father.
Three times in the KJV Bible, we read "Abba, Father."

Jesus -
You are my Peace.
The name
Jesus
. . .
There is just something about that name.

Lord,
All these unsettling things
confront me
and call out for my attention.
But
I want to be
captivated by your Peace.
I will
choose to do
peaceful things right now.
Amen

Psalm 1
describes a person who follows God.
~ ~
When
we give our heart to God,
Psalm 1
says,
" We shall be like a
tree
planted by the rivers of water."

Jesus IS the water of life.
We are created to be
a tree
that soaks up
the water of life
and becomes nourished and blessed.

John 14:27 NKJV
says...
" Peace I leave with you,
My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
Scripture says,
" Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. "
Notice the word
" LET. "
We can easily LET our heart be troubled or afraid.
It is natural to LET our heart be troubled or afraid.
But
by following God's guidance,
we can
learn to react
Supernaturally.
We can learn to
fight against being troubled or afraid.

Jesus is telling us
Number one -
We need to learn some new things.
For example, we need to learn new strategies
Number two -
We need to exert some effort.
For example,
We need to exert effort to learn a new strategy.
AND
We need to exert effort to practice that new strategy.
More examples
We need to exert effort to turn on peace-producing music.
We need to exert effort to read and speak out Scriptures.
For ideas on
capturing
unsettling thoughts or ungodly thoughts
and
intentionally think new thoughts....
See our How to Capture Thoughts page.

Let's look at the
Words -
Take & Learn
-
And a Scripture that highlights those words.
Take - exert effort
Learn - exert effort to learn new things and practice those new things.
Scripture says...
Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me,
for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart,
and you will find rest
(relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet)
for your souls.
Matthew 11:29 AMPC
