New Year in Home Schooling

Father God,

    We are starting a new school year with great expectations. I pray that you would remind me that you are right here with us - through all the joys and all the challenges. 

    Lord, I pray your blessings over our home, our lessions, and our interactions with each other. 

    I pray that you would bring peace and joy to us as we pursue our home school lessons. Remind me to add fun to our day! 

I pray that this year will be a time of

learning and growing

in academic achievement

and in

the knowledge of you and our world. 

May it also be a time of joy and making warm memories.

   Joy, Joy, Joy!

You are the author of JOY.

May we be uplifted today as we begin this new year.

I pray in the name of the Greatest Teacher - Jesus Christ,

It was a blessing from God.

tech giants

think about

giving THEIR children

technology ?

They

greatly limit

it

and some

even

prohibit it.

What kind of

schools

do

tech giants

send

 THEIR children

to ?

Answer:

Schools

that rarely use

technology.

I think relying too much on tech

is only one

reason

that children

are not excelling academically in schools.

I think

the changes in our public schools 

such as

the curriculum they teach,

and

the negative morals and values they teach

(actively and passively)

are

the primary reason.

Yet,

the videos

on this page

make some important points.

Too much tech is hurting our children.

I think it is

important to emphasize

that reading

actual paper books

in their hands

gives children

tremendous advantages

over children

who rarely read books

and just rely on tech.

Thoughts about pleasure reading -

When

my son

was

8 or 9 years old,

he did not like reading books for pleasure.

I started assigning him 20 minutes

of pleasure reading

with fun story books and mysteries that are harmonious with the Bible

each day

along with his other home school assignments.

In less than a month,

he loved reading so much

that

he would come to me

at night

asking to do his silent reading

for the next day. 

It was

obvious

that he was eager to read the rest of his book.

That

began his love of reading.

Explaining my son's assignments - 

My son

was motivated by

having all his assignments each day

written on a piece of paper.

He enjoyed

checking them off as he completed them.

Some of his assignments were with me,

and 

some were done independently.
