Let's talk about Cursing / Cussing.
On this page,
we will explore
this
Biblical topic...
For those who want help or want to help others.
Phil Robertson shares
How to Stop Cussing
Scriptures below the video
Titus 2:6-8 NIV says...
Encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
Luke 6:43 NIV says...
43 “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn bushes, or grapes from briers. 45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
Phil mentioned
The Fruit of the Spirit.
They are found in
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV ...
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Ephesians 4:29 NIV...
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs,
that it may benefit those who listen.
Ephesians 5:3-5 NIV...
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.

Question for those who curse -
Are you considering a
New Year where you are more careful
about what you say?
Below are some
Youtube comments that I took from
below Phil's video.
I imagine Phil is a really positive influence on those around him. You’d feel stupid letting any profanity out of your mouth around him and it makes you think, If this offends Phil, how does God view this?

Cursing is a matter of what's in the heart. Whatever is in the well comes up in the bucket. Fill your well with the word of God.

I struggled a lot too but the way I was able to do it was to confess openly to friends and co workers that I was now a Christian (it was hard but I had to do it) and that allowed me to live up to the expectations that people have towards Christians.
A lot of small prayers throughout the day asking God for help and eventually over time it became natural to me. Thanks to God I never ever curse anymore, even when sometimes I have thoughts about saying a curse I quickly suppress it and rebuke it.

I would only add that, if you want to be a good tree you have to stop filling your mind with the world's evil fruits. "Bad friends (tv, music, media, etc.) corrupts good manners." Romans 12:2
Next... I couldn't resist cutting and pasting this one:
I love you Phil. I am going to pray for both of my daughters to bear good fruit!! They are very young and need a good root system. Thank you for being a great Christian!
