My child don't you know how it makes my heart grieve

To see you struggling so just to believe?

Don't you know that I love you - that my heart breaks in two

When all I can do is watch and not stop what you do?

You think I am happy to witness such pain?

To watch you choose poorly again and again?

I gave you my Son my own flesh and blood,

So you could be whole so your life could be good.

And yet you continually throw it away.

Come back to me child. Come back and stay.

Give me your heart when you kneel down and pray.

To fix what is broken I need more than a day.

You know in your heart what is right and what's wrong.

But the father of lies knows the words to your song.

So when you can't see me, when you don't think I've heard.

Open your heart and hold tight to my word.

For I never will leave you nor tempt you to sin.

I'm right here beside you; just ask me in.
