Wear the world like a loose garment.
Monday Thoughts
The above sentence was one of the "sayings" that my mother often said.
The above saying still comes to my mind multiple times a year and helps me through situations.
When I think about that wisdom, it calms me and directs me toward God and his Word.
**I researched the saying before I posted this page, and apparently my mother's saying is part of a quote from St. Francis of Assisi.
“Wear the world like a loose garment which touches you in a few places and there lightly.” ~St. Francis of Assisi
I pray that the highlighted words for today will be used by God
to personally bless your day and maybe even your life.

Everyone is strange but me and thee
and sometimes thee.
Tuesday Thoughts
The above sentence was also one of the "sayings" that my mother taught me.
That saying has helped me to look at others in a softer fashion.
It reminds me that we all are peculiar and perplexing sometimes - even me.
My mother valued wisdom.
As I was growing up,
I noticed that my mother would often talk
about the value of wisdom.
I received her words.
They were planted in me, and they grew.
All my life, I have valued wisdom, and
I have sought to find and follow godly wisdom.
~ ~ ~
It is my prayer
that some of the godly wisdom
that
I have found and put on this website,
will bless your life.

Inch by inch, it's a cinch.
Yard by yard, it is hard.
Wednesday Thoughts
I have a close friend named Ora
who often uses the above saying
to interject fresh motivation and wisdom into a situation.
From her influence,
I now often find myself using
that powerful saying to
counteract discouragement
and
promote a
godly zeal toward difficult situations.
Action Prayer
Dear Lord,
I realize that words are powerful.
I ask that you would remind me to spend some time finding and memorizing some wise sayings that will motivate me toward godly action.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen

Oh what a tangled web we weave,
when first we practice to deceive.
Thursday Thoughts
When I was young, I heard that saying innumerable times particularly from my teachers in elementary school. It was a saying that every child knew and every child had contemplated to one degree or another.
Our teachers - and most parents and adults - were determined to instruct us early in life to the snares created from lying.
I haven't heard that saying expressed
anywhere
in almost 30 years.
Let's not forget that:
Thou shalt not lie
is one of the Ten Commandments.
When was the last time
you heard a sermon or teaching
about the dangers of lying?
From the silence that commonly accompanies
the subject of the
immorality of lying,
it is not surprising that lying has become so
common place.
Years ago, our society had a healthy view of lying.
Years ago, we realized that "lying"
attacks
the central cords of character that we all need to possess.
But today,
the attitude is:
Everybody lies.
Right?
The answer is:
No, everybody doesn't lie.
And nobody should lie.
Today, schools often do not teach any moral statements about lying, because there are too many voices that are in opposition to any moral stance in the schools.
Children cannot learn what they are not taught.
Our children are growing up totally confused about morality.
For example, there are countless commercials that show lying to be cute or funny. Some indicate that outsmarting a person through lying is impressive.
I encourage all of us to rededicate ourselves to honesty and seek to teach children and teens to value honesty and to choose honesty.
Before I continue on this topic,
I want to invite you to a page on this site called The Belt of Truth
taken from the topic of the full armor of God.
That page gives insights to help us to process the subject of lying.
It also gives specific examples to help illuminate this subject.
On an even more somber and serious note:
Lying is not just a bad idea, it is a dangerous idea.
But the fearful, and
unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and
sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the
lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:
which is the second death.
Revelation 21:8 KJV
What if God is really serious here?
If the Bible is telling us the truth,
then there are some sins that cannot be continued and
then a person expect to go to heaven.
This is serious stuff.
- - -
Every one of us sins sometimes.
But we need to be aware that there are some sins
that will not be tolerated by our Lord over and over as a lifestyle.
A lifestyle of lying will take you to hell
no matter what prayer you have prayed.
I said a "lifestyle."
I did not say that if you tell a lie, you are going to hell.
We need to get serious about the sin of lying.
If you have a lifestyle of lying,
you can
Change your lifestyle:
Repent
and
Stop lying.
Revelation 21:8
I believe the "fearful" refers to those who hide their Christianity.
See Matthew 10:32-33 and Luke 12:8-9.
Remember this scripture is taken from Revelation, and Christians are killed at this time. Note: We now live in a time where in some countries Christians are killed. For example, this week in the old area of Ninevah, the Christians are being killed. We need to pray for them. The Bible tells us that one day this will happen all over the world.
I believe the "unbelieving" are those who have not accepted Jesus as Savior.
Obviously we all know what "liars" are.
Also see our page Explaining Salvation and What is Heaven like for more information about going to heaven.
A lying tongue
and
A false witness that speaketh lies
are in the following list.
These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
The Holy Spirit comes to comfort us,
AND
The Holy Spirit comes to convict us.
Lord,
I will listen when the Holy Spirit convicts me.
I will change.
You have given me the power to change.
Amen
