Thoughts on
Martin Luther King, Jr.
We are celebrating
Martin Luther King Day.
To some people in the U.S.
it just means a holiday from work.
For most people,
Martin Luther King means
more to us than a holiday from work.
Who was he?
What did he do?
There are lots of answers
to those two questions.
Below are some of my thoughts about him.
Martin Luther King stood up with courage
and challenged my country to:
Respect all people.
Treat people as Jesus taught us to treat people.
Choose nonviolence when solving problems.
When I think of Martin Luther King,
I realize that today we need his courage and
his voice of reason and nonviolence.

Martin Luther King
reminded us
that
God made all races and loves all races.
~ ~ ~
Martin Luther King Jr. challenged us to:
Dream dreams of a better future.
Be part of good change.
Treat all races with respect and equality.
Be dedicated to nonviolent change.
I hope my country will choose to hear his voice
afresh today.
Below is a prayer from
2017
that is updated for
This Year!
One January day,
I was praying
and
these words
came out of my mouth:
Dear Lord,
I pray that the legacy of love and justice
that Martin Luther King Jr.
sought to share
will be used by you
to soothe and motivate
the
United States in 2019.
Amen
