Digging DeeperWhen I think of the colors of autumn,
I think of a multitude of shades
of
orange, red, yellow, brown, and gold. When I think of the colors of the cross, there is only one color that comes to mind. The color red.
The cross is a picture of the crimson blood of Jesus that has the power to wash away our sins.
The cross reminds us of the red love of Jesus - our Savior - who gave his all so that we could be washed of sin and transformed into a follower of The King of Kings and The Lord of Lords. Keep those thoughts
in mind
as I guide us to go deeper. God has hidden many treasures in his word that are discoverable by people who want to dig deeper. For example, there are many treasures hidden in Psalm 22. .
Psalm 22 is called a Messianic Psalm because it not only gives words concerning the life of David, but it also gives foreshadowing information about the death of Jesus.
When Jesus was on the cross, he spoke out the first words of Psalm 22. One of his purposes was to direct the onlookers attention to that Psalm. Most Jews knew the psalms basically by heart. Note that the psalms were put to music - which helped the memorization process. For those onlookers who would take the time to think through Psalm 22, they were given hidden treasures only uncovered for the first time - there at Calvary. I would suppose that some of the onlookers ended up being among the new converts to Jesus after his death.
Let's find some treasure
as we look at Psalm 22:6 and the word "worm." .
I urge you to read Psalm 22:6. When considering the Messianic interpretation of verse 6 - I suggest that we look up the word "worm" in Hebrew. It is the Strong's Hebrew word # 8438
Pronounced: toh - LAH That Psalm 22 Hebrew word for "worm" refers to a special type of worm that produced crimson dye in Bible times. The people in Jesus' day would have been familiar with this worm.
.
In other Bible books, that Hebrew word is sometimes translated as crimson thread, crimson cloth, or color produced from the worm.
It appears that God has some treasure nuggets for those who want to get out their shovel and dig. It appears that God wants us to associate Jesus
with the little worm who produces a red color when crushed. In Isaiah 53:5 - Strong's Hebrew 1792 word means "bruised" or "crushed." So think about Jesus being crushed and red blood appeared.
.
Likewise the worm was crushed and crimson appeared. Cut & Paste in your browser. https://biblehub.com/hebrew/1792.htm From the above link - we read - “It was the LORD’s will to crush Him.” Isaiah 53:10. The Servant willingly bears the crushing weight of sin, achieving the peace and healing that humanity could never earn. https://biblehub.com/hebrew/dakkeo_1792.htm It also appears that God wants us to associate Jesus and the worm - with the crimson dye that was used as an important color for the temple cloths. .
Here is a commentary comment from Bible Hub on this little worm.... The commentary comment says: The color of lifeblood becomes a vivid thread through the sacrificial system, prefiguring the substitutionary death of the Messiah. The worm must be crushed to yield the dye; likewise, “He was crushed for our iniquities” (Isaiah 53:5) Scarlet cloth on the Tabernacle speaks of constant access to cleansing by shed blood.
The contrast between royal scarlet garments and the worm’s humble origin - mirrors the pattern of Christ, the royal Son who “emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant” (Philippians 2:7).
Psalm 22:6 joins both images, underlining His voluntary humiliation. The following links are given so you can copy and paste in your browser in order to read more about this little worm and how it relates to Jesus dying for us.

One is very simple. One is more detailed, but it starts with an entertaining introduction. .

DISCovering InsightsEach month this section of the newsletter focuses on The DISC Four Basic Personality Styles. ~
Each month this section examines a particular topic through the lens of the Four Personality Styles so that we can learn more about ourselves and others.
The Four DISC Personality Styles are "D", "I", "S", and "C". This month I am highlighting the topic of Conflict with Opposites. .
Below you will find information that is often true of individuals in each of the 4 personality styles. Attention: Take note that for this article, a person's second highest personality style will greatly affect how he or she thinks and how he or she will handle conflict with the style who is technically their opposite.
.
The "D" Personality Style is generally outgoing and task-oriented. - Green would be a good color to represent their GREEN - GO GO GO Lifestyle. Think of a traffic light that is green!
"Ds" are fast-paced and want quick results.
The "S" style is opposite to the "D" style in many ways.
.
The "S" Personality Style is generally reserved and people-oriented. ~ Blue would be a good color to represent their BLUE - Tranquil - Lifestyle. They are slow-paced and want to produce steady, unrushed results.
Notice from the image below that the "D" and the "S" are opposite of each other.
So what happens when a "D" person and an "S" person have to work or live together? Sometimes there is Conflict. "Ds" are naturally fast-paced and impatient. "Ss" are naturally slow-paced.
- "Ds" are blunt. "Ss" get their feelings hurt easily. - "Ds" are sometimes pushy. "Ss" don't like to be pushed. - "Ds" like to change things quickly. "Ss" like time to adjust to a change before it happens. Learning about DISC
can help people to understand each other
AND value each other more. * * *
And - help them to see why they need to try to work WITH each other.
NEXT The "I" Personality Style is generally outgoing and people-oriented. Red would be a good color to represent their RED - flashy, vibrant Lifestyle. They want to be seen easily just as red is the color that is easiest to see in a crowd. ~ They like to focus on FUN! The "C" Personality Style is generally reserved and task-oriented. .
Yellow would be a good color to represent their YELLOW - cautious Lifestyle. "Cautious" like a yellow traffic light says, "Caution."
They go through life slow and cautious. They focus on tasks and want to do things with excellence. ~ Fun is not that important to most of them.
The "C" style and the "I" style are opposite each other on the DISC chart. ~ So what happens when a "C" person and an "I" person have to work or live together? "Is" usually want people to loosen up and stop being so serious. "Cs" usually want people to straighten up and BE serious. .
"Is" often have a difficult time following through on tasks, and they have a difficult time doing things with excellence. "Cs" think everyone should do things perfectly. -
"Is" usually think that making fun family memories is more important than having a tidy house. "Cs" usually think that having a tidy house is more important than making fun family memories. - "Is" think TALKING about doing something nice for someone should result in some credit and appreciation. "Cs" think talking gives you zero credit - only DOING things should give a person credit and appreciation. And... "Cs" usually have to "learn how to" be encouraging and complimentary - which IS important for them to learn. ( I say that as a "C". ) This article is part of a page I have posted which will give you more insights into personality styles and conflicts. I hope you will visit this page.... opposites-attract.html . .
When we understand ourselves better and others better, then we can view situations with wiser eyes. When we are aware of our tendencies and preferences - and those of others - then we can have more control over whether to do what comes naturally to us or choose to do something that is wiser in the situation. Copyright © 2016 Beth McLendon of Inspirational-Prayers.com DISC refresher course.
