Define Wise Virgins

Define Foolish Virgins

Bright light / lamps represent salvation

God is Light

Light vs dinness or darkness

Bright lamps represent salvation

Isaiah 61:2

For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

What produces the light for the virgins?

What does the oil represent?

What does "go buy oil" mean?

What does it mean when Jesus says, "I never knew you - don't know you."

This parable is about

Jesus coming back for his church

in the rapture.

The 5 foolish virgins were not taken to heaven

in the rapture.

Find out why on this page.

Here is a quick sample of this page:

Wise vs. Foolish

In the parable...

The wise have plenty of oil.

The foolish have little oil

Proverbs 21:20 says...

There is treasure to be desired

and oil

in the dwelling of the wise;

but a foolish man spendeth it up.

Here are some of the topics:

What is the difference between the wise and foolish virgins?

What is the deeper meaning of the lamps and the oil?

What is the deeper meaning of "buying" oil?

-

Note:

I will give full explanations further down the page

on these topics.

Quick Overview

of the Parable

Through

relevant scriptures

in other parts of the Bible,

I will show that:

The Bible is clear

in the Old Testament and in the New Testament

including the book of Revelation which was written after Jesus died

that

Righteousness

(which means Obedience to God )

produces light.

( Meaning - Spiritual light that pleases God. )

-

Following God produces light.

In the Bible, bright light and lamps =  represent obedience to God

and

lamps going out or darkness =  represents disobedience to God.

-

The Foolish Virgins thought they would be going to heaven.

In this parable, Jesus is warning those who are foolish.

Define Wise Virgins

The Wise Virgins

Bible Definition of Wise =

Wisdom is knowing and doing right.
Proverbs 3:21 TLB

The Bible says...

The wise people will shine as bright as the sky.

Those who teach others

to live right will shine like stars forever and ever

Daniel 12:3 AMPC

AND take note:

Jesus said...

“Everyone who hears my [Jesus] words and obeys them is like

wise man who built his house on the rock. *

Matthew 7:24 NCV

* The Bible says that God is the Rock of our Salvation

in Psalm 89:26.

The wise virgins are obedient and dedicated to God

and ready to meet Jesus at any time - through death or rapture.

Define Foolish Virgins

The Foolish virgins

FOOLISH

In the Bible, the term "foolish" doesn't mean

absentminded -

it usually refers to

those who are not living right and obeying God.

Bible Definition of Foolish =

In the Bible,

Foolish is a classification of people ranging from

those who appear nice - like average people - to those

who are very wicked.

The Foolish virgins

are people who  - think -  God is going to

take them to heaven if they die or if the rapture comes.

The foolish virgins

do not make

 obedience to God

important in their life.

Jesus said,

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
And I give them eternal life,

John 10:26-27 a NKJV

Jesus said,

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Matthew 7:26-27 NKJV

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Matthew 16:24 JKJV

foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you,
that ye should not obey the truth,
before whose eyes Jesus Christ
hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Galatians 3:1

 Proverbs 1:7 KJV says...

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge:

but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

God tells us that there are

some among people who say they are his and are not.

My people are foolish and do not know me,” says the LORD.

“They are stupid children who have no understanding.

They are clever enough at doing wrong,

but they have no idea how to do right!”

Jeremiah 4:22 NLT

The above verse is a key verse. I remind you that Jesus tells the Foolish virgins that he doesn't KNOW them -

Jeremiah 5:21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: (please continue in your Bible reading through verse 25 or 26.)

Salvation

In Isaiah,

the Salvation of God

is referred to as a

Lamp that burns

(brightly)

Isaiah 61:2

For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

Isaiah 61:2

For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

Light vs. Dimness or Darkness

Dozens of Scriptures associate people who are

obedient to God, righteous and wise

with light

 and

the disobedient,

unwise,

foolish people

and the wicked people

are associated with:

their light being dimmed

or

with darkness.

Proverbs 13:9

       The light of the righteous

shines brightly,

but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.

extinguished = put out or snuffed out

The lamp (or light) of the wicked is put out.

Many people today are being fooled into thinking that the things said in the Old Testament and the New Testament before Jesus e died, do not apply to us.

I challenge those people to read Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Those are the words of Jesus. And Jesus said that if the Church people didn't repent and start obeying him, he was going to put out their lamp!

In the book of Revelation,

Jesus is

talking to John.

In Revelation chapters 2 and 3,

Jesus is giving information to the people in the 7 churches.

Each time Jesus talks about

disobedience and unrepentant sin in those churches,

Jesus says he is going to extinguish their lamp

if they don't repent

soon.

So, those who are not obedient to our Lord

will have their lamp extinguished

at some point

just as the Foolish virgins had.

(To understand better, read First John 2:3-6)

Proverbs 13:9

       The light of the righteous

shines brightly,

but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.

extinguished = put out or snuffed out

The lamp (or light) of the wicked is put out.

What does Practice Righteousness Mean?

Important Point

Following God produces light.

-

The wise virgins

have been following God.

They are obedient to God.

Their love for God produces obedience.

Jesus said, "If you love me you will obey me."

They aren't perfect but they do sincerely try

to please God.

They PRACTICE righteousness... Yet - they don't get it right every single time.

They are ready to meet the Lord at any time

from death or from being raptured.

- Practice -

Practice doesn't indicate perfection. It indicates that you want to do better.

If you know that He [Jesus] is righteous,

you know that everyone who practices righteousness

is born of Him.

1 John 2:29 NKJV

-

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

1 John 3:7 NKJV

If you do not practice righteousness, then you are practicing sinfulness.

There are many reasons why people do not sin in certain areas of their life. Many people do NOT sin in certain areas of their life but it doesn't have anything to do with God.

But the test is  - Is a person trying to follow God by not sinning? Does that person practice righteousness in areas that he would rather sin but he wants to please God?

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 2:15 KJV

I have many scriptures to show that the

wise virgins

are right with God and ready for the rapture.

What brings light into our life?

God is light.

If a person follows God then he is walking in the light.

And that person will continue to gain brightness.

God wants us to dispel the darkness in us

by filling ourselves with light.

What brings light?

This is done by - reading the Bible, repenting, praying, obedience to God, and doing good deeds. There are Scriptures that show these bring light - I will give those Scriptures later down the page.

It is God who lights our lamp, and he uses certain criteria to increase the brightness.

Psalm 18:28 !!!!! See next three versions

New International Version
You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

New Living Translation
You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness.

English Standard Version
For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness.

There are a Multitude of Bible verses that link righteousness to light.

For example, in Isaiah 62:1 b,

we see that God equates righteousness as brightness of light.

Also

it is God who puts out our lamp

if

we are  "foolish" and practice sin.

The foolish live for themselves instead of obeying God..

In the book of Revelation,

Jesus spoke to John AFTER Jesus died and went to heaven.

Jesus told the Christians in the 7 churches

that if they didn't repent and start obeying HIM

he would put out their lamp.

What does oil represent

oil of obedience - oil of love

oil is made by crushing. We crush OUR will and instead do God's will.

Oil represents God's blessing to a person.

Lots of oil represents a person who obeys God and God blesses him.

Little oil represents a person who does not obey God and he does not receive God's abundant blessings.

Oil is used in the Bible to anoint a leader.

In Proverbs 21:20,

the Bible tells us there is oil in the house of the wise.

Proverbs 21:20

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

(foolish man spendeth it up - which indicates the foolish man loses what oil he once had.)

Righteousness

can be defined as...

Right standing with God....

Being in a right relationship with God.

Oil

is received

because of righteousness -

God gives the oil of gladness to those who love righteousness and live righteous as best they can.

Psalm 45:7

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness:

therefore God, thy God,

hath anointed thee with the

oil

of gladness above thy fellows.

Hebrews 1:9

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Isaiah 61:3

This verse associates people who the Bible calls Oaks of Righteousness with being given the oil of gladness. So oil from God is given to those the Bible calls Oaks of Righteousness.

Below is a physical command to keep the lamp always burning that represents a spiritual command.

Ex 27:2

And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

I have a lot more to say about oil further down the page.

(God calls people olive trees - and all people are crushed from life but those who are crushed for the sake of the Lord produce Sacred Oil or God gives them Sacred Oil.

B. Oil was usually part of the animal offerings which indicates to me after going through my studies that it is an important part of our offerings to God of our service.

In Proverbs 21:20,

the Bible tells us there is oil in the house of the wise.

Think of house as also meaning our body.

Proverbs 21:20

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

(foolish man spendeth it up - which indicates the foolish man loses what oil he once had.)

Oil is mingled with a large majority of the animal offerings. Think of oil

Exodus 27:20  AMPC

You shall command the Israelites to provide you with pure oil of crushed olives for the light, to cause it to burn continually [every night].

(Also Leviticus 24:2 is similar to Ex 27:20  above.)

Isaiah 61:3

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

Proverbs 21:20

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

Hebrews 1:9

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Psalm 104:15

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

Psalm 23:5

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Oil

Oil is used to anoint God's people for service.

Oil is used to anoint God's people for promotion.

As in 1 Kings 1:39.

Exodus 35:28 says Oil is used for incense - perfume to send up to God.

Also Exodus 40:9

James 5:14 oil  and Mark 6:13 say it is used for healing.

Esther 2:12

Oil was used for purifying and for preparation to meet the king.

Oil is a valuable thing.

Genesis 35:14

As an offering to the Lord.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.

Multiplied

1 Kings 17:14-16 Elijah multiplied her oil.

2 kings 4:2 - Elisha multiplied her oil.

2 kings 18:32

Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The Lord will deliver us.

Haggai 2:12

If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

? Micah 6:15

  1. Joel 1:10
The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.
  2. Joel 2:19

Purple Yea, the Lord will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:

Oil is produced by crushing

crushed

There are all kinds of crushing situations. But I believe God would say, "Those who have been crushed for my sake [to enhance their spiritual growth and because of their  dedication to me] are seen by me as oil and wine and I respond and give them light - the light of understanding, the light of protection, the wine of

2 Thessalonians 1:4 AMPC And this is a cause of our mentioning you with pride among the churches (assemblies) of God for your steadfastness (your unflinching endurance and patience) and your firm faith in the midst of all the persecutions and crushing distresses and afflictions under which you are holding up.

1 Thessalonians 3:7 Paul felt crushed but other Christians helped

2 Corinthians 1:8 AMPC

The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.

2 corinthians 4;8 is a different kind of crushed. Some kinds of crush is good. And it is not just believers who are crushed. But those who seek righteousness produce oil of God when they are crushed.

The word "buying"

does not mean purchase with money.

It refers to gaining something

through methods other than money.

You could substitute the word "attain" or "get"

We see this in other verses...

Proverbs 23:23

Revelation 3:18 NKJV says

that you may be rich;

NKJV says "refined" - KJV uses the word "tried"

 lev 22:11

But He knows the way that I take;

Job 23:10 NKJV

But we see in Revelation that the word buy can be used in a way other than giving money to someone and then receiving something.

Buying

Phil 2:14

Psalm 37:5

The word "buying"

does not mean purchase with money.

It refers to gaining something

through methods other than money.

It refers to developing a mature relationship with Jesus - that cannot be done overnight. It takes dedication and it takes spending time with our Lord. It means means to develop something through giving your time,

effort, and dedication.

The foolish virgins

need to get right with Jesus.

their are some things you cannot borrow and some things you cannot lend. You cannot borrow someone else's intimacy with God. A bond develops when you spend time with someone.

buying attaining - spiritual value not something of this world.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.  “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Lev 22:11

They are asking for a helping hand.

We can help other people but we cannot give them literally one of our hands.

It is the same with this oil.

It is something we have received from our obedience and we cannot GIVE it to someone else. The word "buy" can be confusing.

A saving faith in Jesus Christ produces obedience. And as we grow in our relationship with Jesus, our obedience grows - our light grows brighter.

Love = Obedience when it concerns our relationship with Jesus.

The more you love Jesus, the more obedient you become and the more humble you become. Our love is supposed to GROW.

Foolish

The 5 Foolish virgins thought they were ready to meet Jesus - But their light was going out

Take heed therefore how ye hear:
for whosoever hath , to him shall be given;

28 And now, little children, abide in Him, that [h]when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

I have done the word "buy" all the way down to the section on gold.

Ephesians 5:7-14

Here, in our text, Paul describes the transformation which the Christian experiences in terms of the change from darkness to light. His words in our text are similar to his teaching in the Book of Colossians: from https://bible.org/seriespage/19-walking-light-ephesians-57-14

Bringing light by Reading your word and obeying it.

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

The Book of Proverbs begins by saying that God wants the foolish to become wise. (Foolishness is darkness and wisdom is light - Proverbs 3:21 TLB "Wisdom is knowing and doing right." )

If you follow Jesus (do what he says to do) you will not walk in darkness but you will have light.

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Being wise (knowing and doing right) creates light and teaching and influencing others to choose righteousness produces light.

Daniel 12:3 KJV

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

If we say we have fellowship with God but we walk in darkness we lie but if we walk in the light we have right fellowship....

1 John 1:5-7 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

Stop doing deeds of darkness (sinful things) and then you will be clothed with light.

Romans 13:12 The night is far gone and the day is almost here. Let us then drop (fling away) the works and deeds of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light.

Whoever believes in Jesus - put Amplified in the word believe...

John 12:46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

The upright become bright lights

Psalm 112:4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.

Wisdom = light and folly = darkness

Ecclesiastes 2:13 I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness.

Good works done with a heart that loves the Lord produces light....

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

2 Peter 2:19

Is 58:10 And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday.

What brings light?

Isaiah 50:11

Behold, all you [enemies of your own selves] who attempt to kindle your own fires [and work out your own plans of salvation], who surround and gird yourselves with momentary sparks, darts, and firebrands that you set aflame!—walk by the light of your self-made fire and of the sparks that you have kindled [for yourself, if you will]! But this shall you have from My hand: you shall lie down in grief and in torment.

Jesus said - I never knew you....

The foolish virgins are those who think they are

right with God

but are not.

-

Jesus said to these foolish virgins in Matthew 25 verse -- that "I never knew you."

Jesus explains more about why they didn't go to heaven in Matthew 7

Jesus those words once before in Scripture. In Matthew 7 - Jesus said, that there would be a group that didn't get to heaven and they would say to Jesus, "Lord, Lord....

I will go into greater detail further down,

but just for a quick reference:

To understand -  Read   1 John 2:3-6 -

the little book of First John not the Gospel of John.

and

James 2:17 reminds us that

if someone says they are a Christian

and then live their life without growing in Christ -

their faith is dead.

That faith will not save them (in the rapture).

Jesus

talks about the dead ones in the church

in Revelation 3:1 b

"You have a name that you are alive but you are dead."

Scriptures

The wise virgins are right with God...

The Bible defines wisdom as knowing and doing right

AND the Bible tells us that you must follow God in Romans 2:13

Romans 2:13 NCV

Hearing the law does not make people right with God.

It is those who obey the law who will be right with him.

Proverbs 3:21

Wisdom is knowing and doing right.

These virgins look to the scriptures to learn what God wants them to do and they also obey God.

FOOLISH

In the Bible, the term "foolish" doesn't mean absentminded or not yet knowing something - it usually refers to those who are going away from God.

Proverbs 1:7 b fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 3:35

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Proverbs 14:16 says...

wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

Point 3:

FOOLISH

In the Bible, the term "foolish" doesn't mean absentminded or not yet knowing something - it usually refers to those who are going away from God.

The lamps and oil represent

a visual of the

spiritual life

of the virgins.

See scriptures further down.

Number 4

The word "buying"

does not mean purchase with money.

It refers to gaining something

through methods other than money.

It refers to developing a mature relationship with Jesus - that cannot be done overnight. It takes dedication and it takes spending time with our Lord. It means means to develop something through giving your time,

effort, and dedication.

The foolish virgins

need to get right with Jesus.

their are some things you cannot borrow and some things you cannot lend. You cannot borrow someone else's intimacy with God. A bond develops when you spend time with someone.

LAMP

First

I will talk about

Lamps

The lamps and oil represent

a visual of the

spiritual life

of the virgins.

The Oil in this parable is not mainly about the Holy Spirit.

The meaning of

Lamp

In the Bible,

the word "lamp" often refers to

the condition of

a person's spiritual life.

Over and over in the Bible,

it tells us that

the righteous experience more and more light

in their life

but those who are not righteous

and not obedient to God

will find that

the little light they have will soon go out.

-

Dozens of Scriptures associate people who are

obedient to God, righteous and wise

with light

 and

disobedient, unwise, foolish people

and wicked people

are associated with:

their light being dimmed

or

with darkness.

Proverbs 13:9

       The light of the righteous

shines brightly,

but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.

extinguished = put out or snuffed out

The lamp (or light) of the wicked is put out.

In the book of Revelation,

the resurrected

Jesus is

talking to John.

In Revelation chapters 2 and 3,

Jesus is giving information to the people in the 7 churches.

Each time Jesus talks about

disobedience and unrepentant sin in those churches,

Jesus says he is going to extinguish their lamp

if they don't repent

soon.

So, those who are not obedient to our Lord

will have their lamp extinguished

at some point

just as the Foolish virgins had.

(To understand better, read First John 2:3-6)

The foolish virgins were disobedient and therefore,

they were left behind when Jesus came for the rapture

- even though -

though they thought they were going with Jesus in the rapture.

But the good man

the dawn gives way to morning splendor,

while the evil man gropes and stumbles in the dark.

More Scriptures

Here are verses about light coming upon the Righteous...

Isaiah 58:6-10

says that

if you obey God,

he will reward you with light...

No, the kind of fast I want is that you stop oppressing those who work for you and treat them fairly and give them what they earn. I want you to share your food with the hungry and bring right into your own homes those who are helpless, poor, and destitute. Clothe those who are cold, and don’t hide from relatives who need your help.

8   If you do these things,

God will shed his own glorious light upon you.

He will heal you; your godliness will lead you forward, goodness will be a shield before you, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.

Then, when you call, the Lord will answer. “Yes, I am here,” he will quickly reply. All you need to do is to stop oppressing the weak and stop making false accusations and spreading vicious rumors!

10 Feed the hungry! Help those in trouble!
Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you shall be as bright as day.

There are a multitude of verses about

obeying the Lord and receiving light.

For example

John 8:12

*

Psalm 37:5-6

*

Daniel 12:3

*

Philippians 2:15b-16

*

Jeremiah 25:10 NKJV

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

Below:

Acts 26:15-18 TLB

Paul meets Jesus on the road to Damascus...

“‘Who are you, sir?’ I [Paul] asked.

“And the Lord replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. 16 Now stand up! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and my witness. You are to tell the world about this experience and about the many other occasions when I shall appear to you.

17 And I will protect you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am going to send you
to the Gentiles 18 to open their eyes to their true condition
so that they may repent and
live in the light of God
instead of in Satan’s darkness,

so that they may receive forgiveness for their sins
and God’s inheritance along
with all people everywhere whose sins are cleansed away,
who are set apart by faith in me.’

Bible uses the word "lamp" as

a physical vessel for light. It also uses the word "lamp" as a picture of the spiritual life of a person.

I am here

Lamps and Light are associated with godliness and righteousness.

God gives light to the righteous.

Living a certain way has as its reward light.

Number 1

The lamps and oil represent

a visual of the

spiritual life

of the virgins.

A. Oil is associated with a wise person.

A. Oil is associated with a wise person.

I've got a lot more to say about oil but it will make more sense if I put it farther down the page.

It refers to gaining something

Point number two above

Point number one.

I am going to

I have a HUGE amount of Scripture

to explain

what the oil and lamps are about.

So bear with me.

I will present a few as we go down the page.

You were created to produce light from following God.

Those who are shining will go with Jesus.

Oil

Lampss

The foolish virgins

their lamps

First I will talk about

Lamps that go out.

When the Bible refers to a lamp going out,

it often

represents sinfulness and wickedness.

Proverbs 13:9

The light of the righteous shines brightly,

but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.

Job 18:5 NIV says...

“The lamp of a wicked man is snuffed out; the flame of his fire stops burning.

Other versions say - The light of the wicked shall be put out.

Proverbs 24:20 says

For the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished.

HERE is where I am in going down the page

Lamps that shine brightly.

The Bible tells us that Bible Scripture is like a

Lamp that shines Brightly.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105

The above verse says that

when we spend time in the Word of God and obey its commands,

Light increases for us and we can see more clearly how to live.

Proverbs 6:23 says

For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light;

and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Psalm 132:17

More about the Light

I have spent hours looking at Scriptures about

Light.

As you will see,

God reveals the meaning of the

lamps and oil

in the parable through the following Scriptures.

-

Note:

Later down this page,

I will prove to you that the foolish virgins are

actually referred to as wicked.

Over and over in the Bible,

it tells us that

the righteous experience more and more light

in their life

but the wicked will find that

the little light they have will soon go out.

Proverbs 4:18 kjv

18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Proverbs 4:18 TLB  18 But the good man walks along in the ever-brightening light of God’s favor; the dawn gives way to morning splendor, 19 while the evil man gropes and stumbles in the dark.

Proverbs 13:9 says

The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

The point of this parable is not about sharing.  Actually, you cannot give your spiritual growth to another person. You can share what you know but you cannot give them your internal light that shines because you follow Jesus.

The foolish bridesmaids don't have a right relationship with Jesus.

Exodus 19:10-11 a picture of the rapture - and it emphasizes being washed.

Psalm 10:12 AMPC

Arise, O Lord! O God, lift up Your hand; forget not the humble [patient and crushed].

The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.

??? Psalm 143:3

Right now I'm using this one in the oil area Exodus 27:20  AMPC

You shall command the Israelites to provide you with pure oil of crushed olives for the light, to cause it to burn continually [every night].

(Also Leviticus 24:2 is similar to Ex 27:20  above.)

Leviticus 2:14 AMPC

If you offer a cereal offering of your firstfruits to the Lord, you shall offer for it of your firstfruits grain in the ear parched with fire, bruised and crushed grain out of the fresh and fruitful ear.

??? scripture

The priest shall burn as its memorial portion part of the bruised and crushed grain of it and part of the oil of it, with all its frankincense; it is an offering made by fire to the Lord.

Judges 10:8 AMPC

  1. And they oppressed and crushed and broke the Israelites that year. For eighteen years they oppressed all the Israelites beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
  2. Judges 10:12Also when the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites oppressed and crushed you, you cried to Me, and I delivered you out of their hands.

Our Heavenly Father

wants to

purify us

like

gold is purified

so we become more like Jesus.

But He [God]  knows the way that I take;

When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

Job 23:10 NKJV

For He [God] is like a refiner’s fire

And like launderers’ soap.

He [God] will sit

as a refiner and a purifier of silver;

He will purify the sons of Levi,

And purge [refine] them

as gold and silver,

That they may offer to the Lord

An offering in righteousness.

Malachi 3:2b-3 NKJV

God refines us to make us more pure and righteous.

For You, O God, have tested us;

You have refined us as silver is refined.

Psalm 66:10 NKJV

OUCH!

Silver is produced by

being broken, pounded,

crushed, crushed, crushed,

pulverized, put in acid,

silver trapped on filters,

put in oven, then

heated, melted, skim off waste,

heated, waste taken off again,

on and on - OUCH!

2 Parables

Matthew 13:44-46 parable

1 Corinthians 7:30

And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

 The Wise vs The Foolish

Wise Virgins

Proverbs 3:21

Wisdom is knowing and doing right.

-

These virgins look to the scriptures to learn what God wants them to do and they also obey God.

FOOLISH

Proverbs 1:7 b fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 3:35

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Proverbs 14:16 says...

wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

Psalm 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

Psalm 69:5

O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

Psalm 73:22

So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.

Jeremiah 5:4

  1. Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God.In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  2. Jeremiah 5:21Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

Jeremiah 4:22 not in KJV Another version ????

The foolish bridesmaids are panicking because their lamps are going out.

Fear is the opposite of a sound mind.

Our love is supposed to GROW.

parable of the seeds - they heard but the weeds kept them from.....

Foolish

Thought they were ready to meet Jesus - But their light was going out

Luke 8:18

Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath , to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. (It seemeth to them that they had a relationship with Jesus but in reality they did not and the light they thought they had was taken away.

1 John 2

Gold

In Matthew 25, the foolish virgins needed to go BUY oil.

God didn't mean for them to buy literal oil.

In other verses in the Bible we see God telling people to go buy gold.

But he doesn't mean literal gold.

Let's see if we can get some understandingfrom the word GOLD.

 Revelation 3:18  says

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

They were told to go buy Gold.

What does Gold represent.

1 Peter 1:7

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1 Corinthians 3:9-23

For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

Malachi 3:3

And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

Zechariah 13:9

And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

Ezekiel 28;4

With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

Proverbs 20:15

  1. There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
  2. Proverbs 22:1A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Tested

Proverbs 27:21 ERV  21 People use fire to purify gold and silver. In the same way, you are tested by the praise people give you.

Joshua 6:19

But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.

Matthew 25:11-12

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Matthew 7:21-23 -

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Daniel 8:10-12 Truth is cast to the ground.

And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.

12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

Isaiah says

Feed the hungry and help those in trouble and your light will shine out in the darkness and the darkness around you will be as bright as the day.

Shine

Daniel 12:3

Isaiah 58:10-11 (I like the Living Bible translation.)

Feed the hungry! Help those in trouble! Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you shall be as bright as day. And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy you with all good things, and keep you healthy too; and you will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
